The Institute plans to engage in a coordinated program of prioritized research for loss reduction that encompasses all phases of the disaster cycle, including disaster preparedness, disaster mitigation, disaster response and disaster recovery.

This database provides a mechanism for the collection and synthesis of relevant research literature across all participating disciplines ranging from the natural sciences, engineering sciences, and social sciences to the managerial sciences.
FIND RESEARCHERS
Multidisciplinary Research Center
The Institute proposes to create a multidisciplinary, inter-institutional basic and applied research center which employs state-of-the-art concepts and technologies to address key research questions in the field. Intial topics could include: natural and technological hazards inventories, risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, effectiveness of communication methods of hazards, intelligence, land-use mitigation strategies, benefit-cost analyuses of mitigation efforts, interagency cooperation, and social/spatial inequiteis in risk exposure.
