Mission
The Institute
for Disaster Studies (IDS) brings together state and national experts
in natural, technological and man-made hazards to:
• Conduct,
facilitate and disseminate research on planning
for preparation, response,
management, recovery and mitigation from disasters;
• Provide
education and training on all aspects of
emergency management; and
• Advise
and assist local, state and federal response, recovery and mitigation
teams
following a disaster.
As a dynamic
catalyst for change and innovation, the Institute keeps North Carolina
at
the leading edge of disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
